Crossing the Alps on bike
With perseverance, team spirit, and a passion for the mountains, students in the “Transalp” P-seminar at St. Anna High School in Augsburg successfully completed their mountain bike crossing of the Alps – and, along the way, gained a wealth of life lessons. As FORUM MEDIA GROUP, we supported this special school project with a donation of 150 euros and our FORUM headbands.
Pushing Beyond Limits Through Focus and Teamwork
From June 29 to July 6, 2026, the tour took the group from Füssen to Lake Garda. Over seven varied and challenging days, the group covered an impressive 418 kilometers and 8,163 meters of elevation gain.
The climbs at the Passo del Mortirolo and Croce Domini were particularly challenging. The third day also put the group to the test: due to weather conditions, part of the route from Scuol to Fuldera had to be covered by train and bus. Afterwards, they got back on their bikes – amid hail, heavy rain, and on sometimes rough trails where they had to carry their bikes in places.
“That, too, was a small, wonderful adventure full of fun,” a student from the P-Seminar reported upon their return. It was precisely in these moments that it became clear what else the tour taught them beyond the athletic achievement: to remain persistent and focused, even in the face of challenges; to never lose their sense of unity; and to look ahead with optimism. Skills that are valuable not only when crossing the Alps, but also in (professional) life as a true team player.

Given the many kilometers, meters of elevation gain, and athletic challenges, the FORUM headbands came in just right: They helped keep the students’ ears warm in the cool mountain wind and kept their heads cool when they were sweating. Despite all the exertion, motivation remained high: “The atmosphere was always great, and everyone had a good time,” wrote a student, summarizing the tour experience.
Regional Commitment to young talent
Through our support of the Transalp project, we’re continuing our commitment to fostering young talent in the region. This is also evident in our diverse partnerships with schools around our corporate headquarters in Merching, particularly in the area of career guidance. As a regionally rooted corporate group in the publishing and media industry, we open up a wide range of opportunities for young people – from internships to apprenticeships and dual study programs, all the way to direct entry into the workforce.
